For the spring 2019 session, Grandir sans frontières (GSF) is offering digital-creation courses for young people aged 5 to 17!

Participants will discover the magic of digital technology and learn to use technologies through courses in video-game programming, robotics, electronics, and even visual and multimedia arts!

REGISTRATION Spring 2019 session

The spring session runs for 8 weeks (April 1 to May 25, 2019).

Classes are held one hour per week.

Registrations are accepted until Saturday, April 6 2019!

Payments in M-U-L-T-I-P-L-E instalments are also accepted. (Conditions may apply)

COURSE SCHEDULE
Video-game creation, ages 7-12 (levels 1 and 2)

Level 1:

• Create a multi-level platform game – Learn the basics of programming and its logic.

• Schedule: Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Level 2:

• Create an arcade game – Set up a scrolling landscape – Create your own characters – Model in 2D – Build on previously acquired knowledge.

• Schedule: Tuesday 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Video-game creation, ages 13-17 (levels 1 and 2)

Level 1:

• Create a simple 3D game – Learn the basics of programming – Model shapes and characters in 3D – Create obstacles and levels.

• Schedule: Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Level 2:

• Create an arcade game – Create your own characters – Model in 2D – Build on previously acquired knowledge in Unity.

• Schedule: Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Introduction to programming and robotics (ages 5-7):

• Explore the world of new technologies by trying a bit of everything – Learn the basics of programming by creating a cartoon – Explore robotics with programmable robots – Build a robot.

• Schedule: Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Creating a website (level 1)

• Create a personal website in a playful way using the Wix platform – Get an overview of the basics of graphic design and the importance of user experience (UX) – Grasp the basic vocabulary of integration – Learn the main tags used in coding and understand their importance.

• Schedule: Wednesday 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

3D modelling (levels 1, 2 and 3)

Level 1:

• Discovering the Blender and Prusa environment – Modelling objects from simple shapes – Creating volume and depth – Setting up a hollow shape – Creating, modelling and printing a simple personal project.

• Schedule: Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Level 2:

• Build on previously acquired knowledge – Setting up a multi-part object – Creating and modelling a personal project made of several printed pieces to assemble.

• Schedule: Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Level 3:

• Independent use of the Créatechlab. Development of personal projects with guidance and help from specialized facilitators.

• Schedule: Friday 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Photography and filmmaking (levels 1 and 2)

Level 1:

• Get started with photography, video and animation – Develop your creative eye – Learn to handle photo/video production equipment – Create an individual mini-studio – Apply the photographic techniques learned to video production – Create a stop-motion cartoon.

• Schedule: Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Level 2:

• Learn the basics of how a studio works – Create your own studio – Learn to handle the devices used for video or photo production – Creating a personal film.

• Schedule: Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Robotics – ages 7 to 12 (levels 1 and 2)

Level 1:

• Explore the basics of robotics with Lego WeDo – Build your own robot – Learn the basics of programming – Program your robot’s actions – Anticipate the requested actions.

• Schedule: Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Level 2:

• Preparing for a robotics competition – Personal creation of a robot with Lego MindStorm – Setting up a course – Programming – 3D modelling and printing of obstacles.

• Schedule: Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Robotics – ages 13 to 17 (level 1)

Level 1:

• Explore the basics of robotics – Build your own robot – Learn the basics of programming – Program your robot’s actions – Anticipate the requested actions.

• Schedule: Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What is the required age for participants?

• The courses are suited to young people aged 5 to 17. No prior knowledge of technology is required.

What are the transportation/parking options for getting to the training location?

• A 3-minute walk from De L’Église metro station (green line), buses 58-61-108-107-37, and parking available nearby.
