Brussels, February 12, 2019. On the initiative of theMinister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region, the first Brussels edition of Printemps Numérique

will take place from March 22 to 24, 2019. Inspired by a royal mission to Canada and by Montréal’s Printemps numérique, the free public

event aims to highlight Brussels actors involved in digital creativity. The idea emerged in March 2018, when the Belgian delegation attended the sixth edition ofPrintemps

numérique in Montréal, where many Belgian and Brussels participants werepresent.

Rudi Vervoort emphasized Brussels’ digital energy and the importance of questioning technological change through art, entrepreneurship and research. Mehdi Benboubakeur, Executive Director of Printemps numérique in Montréal, noted that Montréal has become a world capital of digital creativity and that knowledge-based economies need stronginternational

relationships. The Brussels edition will open with an exceptional evening at Hôtel de la Poste on the Tour

& Taxis site, where musicians from the Brussels Philharmonic will perform compositions generated by artificial intelligence. On March 23 and 24, activities at KANAL-Centre Pompidou will include

exhibitions, augmented-reality

experiences,
coding sessions, discussions and immersive encounters with digital
technologies. www.printempsnumerique.brussels
