Sight & Sound, the Committed Festival
The Sight & Sound International Digital Art Festival is infull swing until May 24. At the heart of Printemps numérique, the seventh edition explores the question of the hyperlocal that crosses borders. Sight & Sound likes to do things differently. The festival presents works that are engaged, experimental and often critical. Its program brings together artists who explore sound, machines, bodies, networks and the social effects of technology. major Montréal digital-art events
such as ELEKTRA and
MUTEK while keeping its own identity. It offers performances, installations and
encounters in which art becomes a way to question technological culture. The program includes works by artists such as Tim Linhart, Myriam Bleau and Phillip Stearns,
among others. Some pieces use sound devices, others glass, drones or networked systems. Together they show how digital practices can
be both poetic and political. By focusing on engagement and experimentation, Sight & Sound confirms the vitality of Montréal’s independent digital-art scene.
