FIFA - In præsentia/in absentia with Momenta | 37th FIFA

✨ The FIFA and MOMENTA co-present their first edition of the video art program free dedicated to the emerging practices, in partnership to Dazibao ✨

Under the intitulé in præsentia/in absentia, the filmmaker and artist Montréal of origine belgo-syrienne Émilie Serri offers a selection of videos and short films developed around the questions of incarnation and of désincarnation of the corps through digital technology. Ayant radicalement modifié our perceptions of the reality, the virtual offers the possibilité of affranchir of the limits and of the contraintes corporelles. Serri intéresse here at the return of the corps, to the age of digital technology, as interface between the world matériel and the world virtual.

The commissaire brings together 11 artists of Montréal and of Toronto that allow people of envisager a simultanéité of présences and of absences:

Émilie Serri is filmmaker, artist and auteure-composer. Sound work récent intéresse at the potential performatif of archives (images trouvées on the Web, films of family, documents institutionnels, etc.) and to the spaces cinématographiques that allow people of activer. Diplômée of the Université Concordia en cinema, it vient of terminer a master’s en arts visuels and médiatiques to the UQAM. Distribués by the society of cinema expérimental Light Cone to Paris, its films have circulé in nombreux festivals, both on the stages nationales qu’internationales. More récemment, its installations vidéos have été montrées in several centres of exposition and galeries of art contemporain at the Québec and through the Canada. En 2018, it has remporté the Grant Claudine and Stephen Bronfman en art contemporain and the grant Talents en vue of Téléfilm Canada for the production of sound first long métrage.

Momenta Biennale of the image is a biennale international of art contemporain vouée to the image. By the entremise of this last, it has for mission of générer a impact sensible and sensé on the world who nous entoure. It met en work of the initiatives rassembleuses and structurantes for the distribution artistic and the éducation, who favorisent the réflexion and the accessibilité to art contemporain. Fondé en 1989 under the appellation The Mois of the Photo in Montréal, the organisme is rebaptisé MOMENTA | Biennale of the image en 2017.

Dazibao, images, expositions, editions is a centre of art dédié to the distribution of the practices actuelles of the image who privilégie the essai and the research. The réflexions développées by Dazibao itself traduisent by the presentation of expositions, of programmes vidéos, of films, of works publiques, of livres and of évènements ponctuels. Fondé en 1980, the centre encourage the diversité and the métissage cultural for that art affirme as a field of know how that allow peoples a best compréhension of the world.
