9 X: [MTL] Winks from Digital Archives

Montréal is often described as the North American capital of digital arts; a

night [MTL] walk through the Quartier des spectacles is enough to prove it. A circuit of new video projections is now in the spotlight.9 X

celebrates Montréal identity in fiveminutes

across nine different sites. [MTL]The

project brings digital archives into the city and transforms walls, buildings and urban surfaces into screens. Each projection offers a wink to a place, a memory

or [MTL] a fragment of

local culture. Thecircuit is produced in the Quartier des spectacles with artists and partners

who explore how public space can become a 

medium for storytelling. The works use projection, animation and archival material to create short experiences that passersby can encounter during a

walk. [MTL] The project includes contributions by creators such as Gabriel  

Poirier-Galarneau, Vincent Bilodeau and other collaborators, and connects with institutions including the McCord Museum. It also

plays with popular references, [MTL]games

and visual clues that invite the public to look [MTL]  again at familiar places.
