Canal H4G: A digital map of Verdun
A first! An interactive digital map that allows us to discover Verdun through the eyes and ears of young people from the neighbourhood. Canal H4G is an educational and artistic creation project initiated by the Turbine centre, enabling students from Chanoine-Joseph-Théorêt elementary school and Mgr-Richard secondary school, both located in the borough of Verdun, to discover and perceive their neighbourhood differently through a techno-walk. One of the goals was to improve students’ perception of Verdun by encouraging them to observe, listen and tellstories about their environment. Through this process, the young participants created sound and visual content that reveals places, memories
and viewpoints often overlooked. The digital map becomes both a work of creation anda tool for mediation, inviting residents and visitors to explore the territory in a new way. Canal H4G highlights the potential of digital technology to support learning, artistic expression and civic engagement.
