Device_art Triennial: 5 Artists Selected by Eastern Bloc
In line with its role supporting emerging Québec and Canadian artists in digital art,
Eastern Bloc selected works by five artists, three of them from
Montréal.
Their works will be exhibited in Zagreb, Croatia, during the next edition
of the Device_art Triennial, held from September 23 to October 4, 2015. Device_art focuses on devices, machines and artistic practices
that

explore the relationship between technology and creativity. By selecting these artists, Eastern Bloc offers local creators an international showcase and helps Québec

digital art travel beyond its borders. The chosen works reflect the diversity of contemporary digital practices: installations, interactive objects, sound devices, electronic systems and critical

approaches to technology. They show how artists can transform tools into poetic, playful or unsettling experiences. This selection also demonstrates the strength of Montréal’s independent digital-art scene. Eastern Bloc acts as a

bridge between emerging artists and international networks, giving creators the opportunity to present their work in

a context where experimentation is valued. For Printemps numérique, the project illustrates the importance of export and circulation. Montréal’s digital creativity does not remain
local;
it joins international conversations and contributes to the vitality of media arts around the world.
