A forthcoming

research projectby Printemps numérique will be published

as awhite paper on women in tech. Through Jeunesse QC 2030, Printemps numérique works toestablish

equal opportunity for young people aged 13to 29 by supporting the development of digital literacy

skills. The

Digital Cafés deployed in schools and thirdplaces allowyouth to explore digital possibilities

and learn about citizenship issues in the digital age. The project also includes research to better understand

young people’s digital uses, particularly among young women, and to

prevent

the digital divide. A first study on culture and

digital inequality among youth in Québec was published

 

in 2020 by Amina Yagoubi. The next phase focuses on young women in tech. Women

remain underrepresented in the technology sector, andearlierresearch identified a strong

gendered

  • digital divide.
  • Interviews with women
  • working or studying
  • in STEM fields explore
  • their relationship
  • to technology, what attracts them

to these areas and how creativity, leadership and empowerment can support

inclusion.

The white paper also presents the EL’TECH model, which addresses empowerment, leadership, technology, entrepreneurship,

creativity

and skills, and examines the role of digital mediation organizations in helping girls increase

their

digital

literacy. While awaiting

audiences canwatch Printempsnumérique videos featuring the atypical paths ofwomen

 

pursuing

digital careers in

Québec.
