This season, the SAT reaffirms the central place of digital artists in itsprograms and in society. In an era dominated by like-and-click habits and market laws, artists offer unexpected experiences while raising critical questions about digital issues and promises. For 23 years, the SAT has placed artists at the forefront as creators, teachers and influencers of scientific research. The Société des arts technologiques is not only a venue for artists and shows, but also a research laboratory and training centre. Visitors are invited to enter as spectators, students or creators. As a 360-degree talent incubator, all of its programs are oriented toward

anticipating and conquering tomorrow’s reality. Its works, training

programs and annual iX Symposium each help us understand, experience and create the enriched reality we must learn to inhabit.Worksfrom residencies will probe the close relationship between humans and immersion. Around 15 works will be presented in the dome this season, including immersive strobes by Ulf Langheinrich in Lost, Cage with an olfactory dimension, 360-degree concerts in the Substrat series, digital landscapes by CamilledeDieu and Laurant Novac in nova lands, organic creatures by Vincent Houzé, the five experiences in the Connexions series and the dancer of Disorder.ark. The fifth iXSymposium,

The Conquest of the Real, will focus on immersive

experience and tomorrow’s reality, with conferences, workshops, works and experiential paths onvirtual reality, augmented reality, the Internet of Things, immersive games and 360-degree cinema. The edition will also address social and political issues of immersion and welcome many pioneering women. The iX Path will offer around 40 experiences to discover at the SAT and nearby, along with iX radio with Bruno Guglielminetti. Campus SAT

continues to open itself to a new

generation of creators. Itsadult program is thriving, while youth initiatives expand. Proud to have reached 8,000 young people last year, Campus SAT wants to encourage learning and demystify technology for the next generation, stimulate critical judgment and provide new means ofexpression, including creative teen Saturdays, an augmented-reality path in Frédéric-Back Park and day camps for ages

9 to 12. On the

research side, Métalab continues listening to artists’ needs and has collaborated with IRCAM to create research residencies in sound spatialization with SATIE software. It is also reflecting on future rooms, modular spaces equipped for immersion and telepresence. The Labo culinaire is preparingfor

sunny days by installing

a rooftop garden and continuing to support organic and local products, responsible agriculture and distribution channels. It will welcome Les Turbulents natural winemakers’ salon on April 22, and nearby, Cinéma à la Belle étoile will return toPlace de la Paix this summer. Have a good season; more events will be added during

the

season.
