SALON: DATA XXX
For the 30th Salon: Data, which began in 2010, Eastern Bloc will become an experimental video-game
arcade for a poetic exploration of virtual environments. Presented with curators Roby Provost and Jules Deslandes
and the Technoculture, Art and
Games research centre (TAG), this gamingevening is open to
all ages. It
takes place April 13 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Eastern Bloc, 7240 Clark, 2nd floor, Montréal. TRAIPSE by Alexandre Lemire invites
participantsto play an
electronic version of a choose-your-own-adventure book featuring an old-fashioned young adult deciding what to do on a Friday night, burdened by negative self-criticism and endless heartbreak. DEMAIN MATIN by Ganesh Baron Aloir is an interactive installation on procrastination, staged in the artist/designer’s workspace. The goal is simple: finish the task before the deadline while avoiding distractions. A Kinect captures
the user’s position, which can
trigger or avoid distractions, and the ideal position changes over time. HOT DOG BIJOU by Hope Erin Phillips is a mysterious game in which you
play a sensitive, affectionate
dog who comforts a saddened person, part meme and part detective game. STATE OF MIND by Collectif Fantazem explores emotions tied
to the need for freedom and
the difficulty of satisfying it through three audiovisual tableaux. GRÉMENT PRO FISHING 2K17 by Jules Deslandes and Roby Provost is a collaborative installation and video game in which two players try to catch the largest fish in a limited time. APOLLO 11 by Collectif Grand bruit is a space drama retracing the lunar disaster
of July 20, 1969.
GRAND BRUIT is a tribute to the refusal
to disappear and an
ode to the evanescence of things. PARCOURS
D’HÉBERTISME by Pénélope and Chloë with
Geneviève Lebleu is a course that tests the body throughout the space. The evening also includes ODE AU TECH by Mégane Voghell, UNTITLED by
Alvaro Salvagno and
DJs Hazy Montagne
Mystique,
Fruits, aNTOJe and Yerly. Full Eastern Bloc
programming is
