The Printemps numérique, as part of the financial support program Together Against Bullying of the Québec Ministry of Family, presents the report « Cyberviolence among the youth: The challenges of the cyberbullying » and the « Framework of skills of prevention of the cyberbullying among the youth » produced by the sociologist and researcher Amina Yagoubi PhD. These documents aim to raise awareness, prevent and equip the educational and community stakeholders in response to the cyberbullying.

Main objectives 

  • Raise awareness: Provide tools to recognize forms of cyberbullying.
  • Prevent: Encourage safe and responsible online practices.
  • Protect: Develop strategies to support the youth affected by the cyberbullying.

Why this report is important? 

The cyberviolence, including the cyberbullying, affects seriously the mental health and the well-being of the victims. A collective response combining education, legislation, technological tools and psychological support is essential to curb this scourge. This review of the literature highlights:

  • the importance of a education digital inclusive.
  • The need of laws adapted in counter the online abuse.
  • The serious psychological impacts, such as the isolation and the distress emotional, among the young victims.

Structure of the report

  1. Data and context: Exploration of the trends current, including of the statistics.
  2. Forms and impacts of the cyberviolence: Study of the different forms of cyberviolence such as the sexting, the doxing, the deepfakes, etc. Analysis of the repercussions to short and way terme on the mental health and social youth.
